Let me share my story….
I grew up playing sports. Loved softball, volleyball, track and was always super active as a child and into high school. I decided to attend Arizona State University (Go Devils) and played D1 collegiate softball for them. I loved playing, especially in college, and I feel like that is where I started to become more aware of my health and fitness. I graduated from ASU in 2004 with a B.A. degree in Political Science and had aspirations for law school. After taking the LSAT and working as an intern at the House of Reps I knew that law school was not for me. I went back to school and received my Masters in Exercise and Wellness and while doing that I started training people out of my home. I knew my passion was helping others so I followed my heart…not knowing where it was going to take me.
After years of training clients out of my home I branched off and opened up a gym. In that time, I also started to compete and fell in love with the process of getting stage ready and working toward that goal. After seeing a sign in my local gym for an upcoming show, I decided to go for it. Three shows later I was getting ready for a national level show and just so happened that I won and received a Pro card for the IFBB. (Think Arnold Schwarzenegger).
I competed for 9 years before I was forced to quit. Like many competitors out there I was suffering from body dysmorphia, adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, self sabotage, binge eating and overall just feeling like I had lost control over my body and also my mind.
I vowed to myself to take back my power and through many obstacles, trials/tribulations, patience and re writing my own story, I healed myself. Education and knowledge is key and I can say that I took the time to educate myself and learn what what works for and me and what doesn’t. I want everyone to be able to take their own power back and to change their life for the better……“She who learns…..teaches”
From the bottom of my heart…. Thank you!
